In case anyone with a valkyrie was considering buying the rivco kickstand plate for goldwings beware that the valkyrie has a different shape kickstand foot than the full sized goldwing. It will not fit unless you do some serious grinding to reshape the foot.

I assume that the difference is because the valkyrie sits taller than a full goldwing which requires a taller kick stand.

If anyone wants to give the pad a try this is the shape you need to grind it down so that the pad will fit. I took off quite a bit of material with a dremel.

It took a lot of grinding and test fits to get it perfectly snug. A few coats of primer and paint it looks good as new.

Once dry. I did the final fit with a few taps of a rubber mallet and some thread lock on the set screw. It’s not going anywhere.

I park on gravel often so this mod was worthwhile for me.

I don't plan on parking my valkyrie on anything but concrete or asphalt, so I don't really need one of these, but if I were going to, I'd go old school and just weld a piece of plate steel to my kick stand. Lol

I also seldom park off concrete or pavement but do carry a clam shell in the fuel compartment for the rare occasion it is needed

haha that would have been the best option!

I had purchased the rivco and it sat in my garage way past the return period so I figured I might as well make it fit. When I started I had no clue how drastically different the valkyrie kickstand was from the goldwing. It wasn't mentioned anywhere. Figured I would post here so someone would learn from my mistake and save them some time.

Thanks I would have guessed that it was the same stand as a Wing.

I did exactly the same, but did not have to grind off anywhere near the material that you did. If my memory serves (it rarely does), when I bought mine it referenced the Valkyrie, so I bought it and didn't install for a long while. When I did, I noticed fitment issues, but I was able to fix that with a heavy file on the top of the kickstand foot. This leads me to believe I got a different product than you did. It looks identical to mine, however, and I used a drop of blue Loctite on the set-screw for safe-keeping as well.

I'll look into my Valkyrie file sometime this week and see if I can find any packaging or info that might clear that up for us (whether or not one is available specifically for our Valk, and not the GW). I also have another piece of plastic that I carry in either my hip pocket or rear bag that will support the bike under the kickstand even in very soft ground. Specifically made for this purpose. You've probably seen them in catalogs, but I'll take a pic of it and post it after I look up the "foot" part paperwork.
