I accelerated this morning in 1st until the rev-limiter kicked in. That was at 42 mph. Then I did the same in 2nd -- 70 mph. I got up to 92 in 3rd and hadn't hit the limiter but had to back off.

Has anyone hit the limiter in 3rd or 4th?

Also, I realized the gearing in 3rd is the same as the gearing in 5th on my Nighthawk 750.

4000 - 57 mph
5000 - 72 mph
6000 - 85 mph

I don't remember if I did. I did the top speed test to see when the speed limiter kicks in. Right around 125 +/- a mile or two per hour. I think the rev limiter in fourth should be about 117mph? Just based on the gearing and half baked math I'm doing in my head.

Okay, I hit 3rd's limiter today -- 98 mph.

But I am finding a good, spirited shift point is 5000 rpm.

I topped out the same as mrtappan, 205kph (127mph).

What was the rpm reading at 125-127 mph?

If (big IF) I remember right, it was around 4k. 4200 or so? I'm 250 lbs and had an OEM wind shield on the bike so take those into account.

I got her up to 117 mph this morning before I ran out of road. Without a windshield the wind is brutal even if you tuck in.
