Already planning ahead. I can say from past experience on a vtx1800 F that a size 200 on rear will definitely give you more life if this Valk can handle it.

Overall, I'd like to know how many miles you all got on original tires.

I am not aggressive and need my tires to go over 10,000 or 16093 km. Don't know if these will make it since I've now got 7100 on them. Rear looks better than front so far.

My front was replaced at 8800 miles and the rear at 10700 miles.

I’m looking at my front tire and thinking that it’s time to watch for a sale. It’s got about 9k on it. The rear looks like it could make another 2 or 3k. This bike isnt nice to tires, especially the front.

I was kinda figuring it will be hard to get long range treds for this one. I’ve read where some Goldwingers have bragged about close to 20K on theirs and I think no way.

Tires seem to be wearing really well so I’m going go ahead and start researching best tires and not necessarily cheapest tires.

It's not the bike, it's the tires. My next front, a Shinko 777 I changed out at 11623 miles on it and only changed it due to a long trip I was taking. My rear was changed out for the same trip. A Shinko 009. 9671 miles on it but could have went at least 4k more.
Next on the rear was a Mich Commander 2. 200x55x17. I changed it out at 7994 miles. Again due to leaving on a long trip. It could have went a lot further also.
Now I have a Economist 175-55-17 car tire on the rear. I'll see how it does for mileage. I love the ride it gives. I have over 10k miles on my front and it looks great. But it will get changed out for the trip to Taos in june.

The OEM tyres wear exceptionally well. I'm at 19,000km on mine and still not quite down to the red markers. I've decided to go for the same tyres when I change them. I know others say they don't handle as well but I've decided that with the relatively sedate riding I do (and rarely in the rain) it's not a problem and I'd rather have the longevity.

My front was a little beyond knackered at 11000k if I remember rightly and the rear I got 16??? But it was pretty much canvas. That was back in the day when I couldn't even get oem's... good times... not.

with only 4K i have some time to watch and learn but i will try to go with radials if i can find them in the same size.
