I have a 1997 Valkyrie Tourer and recently removed and drained the fuel tank after a contaminated fuel issue. The bike started up fine and ran well for about six miles. It then had a gradual power loss that ended with complete shut down. I checked the fuel switch, which was in the right "ON" position. Both tank hoses were connected and no leaks were visible. The bike would not restart; although I could hear combustion it would not run. So I called a tow truck. After about ten minutes, I tried to start it again and it fired up fine. Raced home and cancelled the tow truck but not very confident in any future ride until I figure this out. I suspect that it may have to do with the vacuum hose and mechanism in the fuel tank that may be preventing continuous flow to the engine. Of course, the maintenance manual doe not have enough details to work with. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
