I thought I would share this.

I bought my bike back in August 2018 new and with it told the salesman I want saddlbags. He orders them along with the bracketry Honda decides to nickel and dime you with because if they sold it as a whole kit the price would look too expensive and people probably wouldn't buy it. But $550 here and 175$ here and oh, yeah $200 here... So I said "oh, heck, Let's do this and ordered everything.
He goes to order and one part was backordered over 6 weeks. I had him order what was available and went hunting for the part.. The saddlebag bracket. But apparently there are 2 kinds. One for the solo seat, one for the dual seat. The dual seat was backordered. So I get the part number AND CORRECTLY and order the part. I get it. Right part number on the box. I open it. It's the solo seat bracket .. Very "Un-Honda" to do that. I call the other dealer and I return it for a refund.
I order it again. Right number. Off Amazon... Porch pirates get it. Now Im pissed. I have saddlebags and can't install them over 1 part. Finally 7 months later I order them again. Right number. I get the wrong part. Again.
Call the dealer. They want a restocking fee...lol Ebay store.... So I go and install everything... After 7 months Im tired of waiting . 3 hours in the garage and it seems everything lines up. I notice in the instructions for the solo seat it called to removing the entire fender.. Nope, not doing it. I skip that part of the instructions . All lines up. Then I go to put on the grab rail. The new bolts are too short by like 10mm . Kind of a good thing.. The dual seat bracket is fugly.
So if this happens to anyone else or say you want a nicer clear saddlebag bracket all the remedy calls for is 4 bolts... Then I think to myself... I got stalled up 6-7 months over 4 bolts.. I had to laugh. End rant. :D

No I didn't have your drama fortunately. I called the local dealer and laughed at the price. Then I did some hunting and found a bit here and a bit there and a bit over there and got it all together with little problems, luckily by the sounds of it.

I didn't think the price was too ridiculous when the dealer told me the cost for the entire setup, but then I saw the bags were just little leather bags.

I like what some of the members here have done, and I'm going to have some custom brackets fabricated.

I'm about $600 total for the OEM brackets and Large Viking Lamellar hard bags. They work perfectly, look like they were made for the bike, and since I have the 2014 black version, the gloss hard bags match **** near perfectly. I am happy now. Although the new 2019 Goldwing looks pretty tasty and may not be as big as the last version so may make a decent commuter all the while making momma happy....

So with the Solo Seat bracket and 4 slightly longer bolts you get the cleaner setup AND get to keep the grab handles? Any clearance/vibration issues that you've noticed that could damage the fender? I'm leaning toward a pelican case w/ removable stay or ghost bracket setup for longer rides this year. Would like to retain as clean an appearance as possible for the 90% of riding where I won't need bags.

You can get it to fit but after a week from writing that post I wound up buying the 2 seater brackets.
I got the single seat bracket to work by buying 4 8mm x 40mm bolts for the grab rails and fit the factor spacers through them. A friggin nightmare to get everything to line up but it's doable. Then since the grab rails are now raised the rear seat takes some finessing to get in. Then when you get that fit in along with the front seat trying to get the screws in for the front is a real pain. Is it worth the headache? No. It's why I went back and found the 2 seat bracket. For the 3rd time. Which luckily a 2 seat bracket in the box.

I'll be selling some single seat brackets on the site cheap. They have some light scuffs on them (not bad enough to avoid buying but they're there) so they'll be cheap.
