Yesterday was going to be a cool day in the sousteast US. I left the house by7:30 and headed to Asheville NC. Got on the Blue Ridge Parkway and settled in for what ended up being 10 hours on the parkway 12 total. I stopped in Roanoke VA. Thought about getting a room then while I was having dinner I realized I was close to 500 miles and had close to that much time to get an Iron Butt. After some calculating I headed out. Up to Charlottesville VA. Over to Richmond then 95 back to SC. I met a Valk rider from the other board on the Parkway and spent some time talking with him. Those older Valks are Holy Crap Batman BIG! I realized I was having some trouble sometime around 3am and decided to stop at the rest stop. Closed my eyes and the next thing I knew I was not going to make it!!! I checked my odometer and my initial fill up for miles and time and realized that I didn’t have to make it back in 24 hours so it was game on. I stopped for my last tank of gas and to check out of the ride. 1035 miles with plenty of time left. A whole 4 minutes to spare. The last 30 miles to the house were at a crawl. I was spent. Some info. The bike and me loved the parkway. Mostly 40 mph for hours lots of nice views, the bikes range was amazing. Most gas stops were at 215 miles and one stretched to 235 miles on the tank but I never put 5 gallons in it. All in all a great day. Not sure I will pay to have it documented. I already have one confirmed and have the shirt. Pics soon

Nice impromptu IBA ride there

Its unlikely that you documented it correctly though. eg Did you get a contemporaneous start witness on a ride when you weren't planning to go the 1000miles? Finish witness?

Another option for Premier IBA members is to document the ride with photos showing computer gas dockets alongside your odometer.

Anyway, a great ride was done documented or not and we here salute you

Yes I see your point. But as stated In the OP; It isn’t about the documentation it’s about doing it. I already have a certificate for a previous documented ride. I think what made it so cool is the fact that it didn’t start out to be an IBA ride. I really enjoyed the ride and all of the people and places along the way instead of getting on an interstate and hitting the throttle. For me it was no less of an accomplishment.
