7 months and 16,000km in and I'm just starting to really get it. Yes, yes, I can see the wry smiles of you old-timers, but you will also, I'm sure, identify with that feeling where the bike really starts to feel part of you. Honda engineering is just incredible. Heck, when I was in Parks and Gardens we knew that the only mowers worth buying were the Hondas. They would go and go and start first time every time and (cover your ears) do all that even if you never serviced the friggin' things(!) Brilliant. This Valkyrie is just starting to reveal itself to me as the incredibly sophisticated lady she really is. No way I'll be selling her. Not until I can't walk no more anyways...

Very underestimated bike..
Frustratingly so. I was telling a mate in my (occasional) riding group that I was annoyed I didn't make the effort to join them on a recent forest ride. "Never mind" he said, "the next ride will be more suitable for you anyway: it has lots of straights." Another person who hasn't ridden a Valk but believes they know it. This is where Honda went wrong. They didn't have a strategy to make sure people actually rode them. Everyone on this forum agrees it was love at first ride. I rest my case...

Your friend might not know about Valks. These things handle VERY well for a 750lbs bike with a long wheelbase. Then in the straights you have the get up and go of a 600cc sportbike..:D..
