Kuryakyn Ergos III

Bought myself a Xmas present this week. New Ergos III footrests. After my hour ride to Corbin a couple of weeks ago, I realized quickly that I would need another spot to put my feet. These were expensive, but I think they will do the trick nicely. They had some longhorn style, but with the Ergos I am able to change the length of the arm. Hopefully they will work for exactly what I need. Anyone else using these? I probably won't be able to put them on til after the holiday, but are there any tips for them?

just one question....Deland to Daytona is like 25 miles and should take less than 30 minutes. Were you pushing your bike???? :)

He took the scenic route.
I have those same ones on my bike. One thing I found is to not mount them with the arms hanging low or they will scrape the pavement. especially, if you have your feet on them and they hang lower.
Mine are set to be pointing up a little at the rest position. When I put my feet on them, they lower, but they won't scrape unless you really lean the bike.

Actually, I did take the scenic route, but Corbin is in Ormond Beach by Rossmeyer's. If I take the direct route going up 95 it's only about 40 minutes.

Thanks for the heads up on this bit of info. I would certainly have hung them a little low probably.
I have them on my Valkyrie, the dealer put them on for me when I bought the bike of course they were put on wrong (there is a left and right side on the peg plug).
I like them a lot I have the Ergos II on my F6B which are also great. I would of put the II's on my Valk (because they are less money) but they don't make them in black with the 6 inch arms.
Is there a downside to using less expensive pegs which attach to the vertical portion of the engine guard?
I like the Ergos II on my B your feet are a little higher. On the Ergos III the pegs move down an inch or two lower. Both are comfortable.
I would have bought the II if they had them in black.

I thought so. I initially went with chrome Chinese knockoffs from Ebay and saved some bucks. Any weight, as from my feet resting on them would move them out of position regardless how tight they were. Then the chrome started pitting after a few months. I gave them to a friend and bought the Ergo II in black. No issues with them so far. YGWYPF is true.
Yes you can get the Ergo II in black but not with the 6 inch arms unless that changed since I bought them.
I know rider comfort is subjective but at what inseam do the 6" arms become compelling? My bike is on stands for the winter, hence my dumb questions...

I am 5' 10" with a 30 inseam.
I have the 6 inch arms on both of my bikes.
you probably won't reach them. I have the Longhorn and can barely reach them all the way back on the horizontal. 6-1" 34" inseam with Corbin Seat (-2"
I have the III in black. They made a big difference over my kury clamped style. I wish I did these first they added more comfort than I ever thought possible

If you have chrome and you want them black. There is a product from Dupli-Color called Shadow Chrome Black-out Coating that will turn them into black chrome. I did mine and they have held up really great. You just have to wash them with a good degreaser like POR15 and then spray them. No sanding, otherwise you will see the sanding marks. It is amazing how good the stuff sticks to chrome.
I just installed mine today and have the same problem as the guy in this video.

I have sent a note to Kuryakyn about a solution. Hopefully I will hear back sometime after the first. For now, I have taken out the spring inside and added a sleeve that was in the box to make the right side solid and not at all flexible. The left works as intended. Makes me wonder if there is an issue at the factory for the right side. Hopefully they have a fix. If not, I will make the left side solid as well. I just like things to work as they should.

As far as reach, I am 6' with a 30" inseam and have no problem reaching them. They could actually be a little farther forward then they are now and I would be ok. I have them adjusted to the furthest position. Have only ridden the bike once in the last three weeks and it may be a couple more weeks before I get a chance to ride again. Less than 600 miles since September when I took delivery. Man....working retail this time of year is the pits.

I had thought long and hard about the Rivco's. I have always had good luck with Kuryakyn stuff and I like the way they look. I have never seen anything by Rivco in person, so I went wtih what I knew really. Rivco in black might have looked good.
It's not easy getting highway pegs just right for the long haul. I got the Kuryaken ergo ll with long arms, nope. Bought the shorter arms, better, bought the mini arms, Ahh just right. If anybody needs the long or short arms let me know.
