Hey guys! Looking to purchase/upgrade to a Valkyrie and had a couple of concerns before I make commitment

With wife and gear, we will be close to 425 and the bike I have now bottoms out and the only available suspension upgrade is airride and I’m not too keen on that. Has anyone had issues with the suspension being too soft with a big load and has anyone replaced the single shock with a more heavy duty one? The single shock scares me too.

Hi Roy,
I don't ever do 2 up, but I am about 260lbs give or take a couple. I upgraded just the spring with a progressive brand goldwing spring and it made a ton of difference for me. I am not sure about the shock, but I can't imagine that it would hurt you weight wise any.

What spring did you use. On the site, they all come in pairs. Was there an ultra heavy duty one that you found?

I got this one off ebay:

Progressive Suspension - 01-1179B - Rear Springs Kit D Honda Goldwing 77-1173

I don't know if its considered ultra heavy duty, but it is quite a bit bigger than the stock spring.

I have the same spring and it does make a difference when riding solo. The odd time my wife rides on the back and we have never bottomed out. I weigh 250lbs and she is @ 140lbs plus I have saddlebags with stuff in it.
If it is made for a full wing, I think it will do us fine. The back end of the wing and F6B is a lot heavier than our bikes.
