Horse Saddle Seat

1510 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Nowhere Man
Hi

I am thinking of putting a horse saddle on my bike. I have taken the original seat off and can easy make a frame to hold the saddle. I can cut away some of the saddle and re sew...

Any thoughts on this idea? I think it looks cool (click on photo) and I know horse saddles are very comfortable!, and you can pick up a saddle on Ebay for about $200us

If you like it, find it comfortable, able to make it fit and look like it is part of the the bike then go for it. There will be some one that will always make a dumb A$$ remark, they feel it brings them attention (Fail). It is YOUR RIDE, It is YOUR creation, you paid or it, and the best, if it does not work you can change it back. A real Iron Horse!! Post pics when done and have fun. It is your toy play with it. Different stokes for different folks, that what making looking at peoples bikes at rides so much fun.

Go for it. Be curious to see the results, and who knows, if it works out well, others might be interested in buying one from you. Dog knows there aren't enough aftermarket options for our bikes. The oem seat sure does suck. I have a corbin and like it well enough, but not sure it's worth the $500 price tag.

yeah, it makes me wonder how Honda failed to make the OEM seat comfortable, Their fireblade seat was better and it was a race bike!..

Yeah, i agree..i might even leave the stirrups on and add reins to the bars (have done this before with a KLR650 and worked really good with throttle lock)..but you're right, it does need to be done right and will see if i can make it work using only the seat part of the saddle and attach that to a metal base plate.
