Hi,
About to buy a blue '14 ABS Valk to complement my '05 Triumph Daytona 955i and '12 Husqvarna Strada. Lots of long distance riding planned in my retirement. The Valk is the only variant of the Gold Wing I am interested in, with most of the junk removed, less weight, more ground clearance and better brakes. I'll mount a fairing on it, and a top box.
I researched the Goldwing gearbox problems, and it looks as if the ghost shifting issue is fixed in the '14 bikes. I hope so. That leaves the unobtainium front tyre problem. It looks as if there is no 2017 model, has the Valk died? I seem to buy obsolete bikes.

Congrats on your new bike.
I heard (but have seen no proof) that the Valk was still being produced for the EU and Australian markets. I hope that's true, but in NA, they stopped production after the 2015 model.

Dealers here in Oz are still selling the odd "demo" 2015 Valk in 2017. If the Valk is dead in its target NA market, I reckon its probably extinct.
