Brakes

Just over 17,200 miles and I started hearing a scrapping sound coming from the front. All 4 pads were worn to a different thickness with one pad about the thickness of a hair and the other three still had life in them but all worn different. Anyone else have to replace their front brakes?

my plan is to replace the pads when i replace the tires
You be going hard if you have to do pads every set of tires, you got some cash to burn too ;)

Anyway that 17200m sounds about ball park. A word to the wise... don't cheap out. The OEM's are the best by far I have found.
Yes had to replace the fronts at 14,000. Like yours one pad very thin. When replacing i bled front and rear calipers and clutch fluid.
Many vehicles i've owned have exibited this condition. Not a big deal if caught in time. Most times cleaned and bled calipers and condition did not repeat
I agree with getting oem brakes. I haven't got there yet on this bike but honda pads outshines the off brands.
I had to replace mine at 16272 miles. only one was worn down but replaced all of them. And I do a lot of highway miles.
Holy crap guys, what are you doing to your brakes. I have 35000kms (22000 miles) on my bike with the original pads and they still look good. Maybe it's because I have ABS.
I don't think they designed this bike to drive around at 80mph. They have the smaller bikes for that. I mean why put one of the largest bike motors ever made in a stripped down bike just to poke along?

ABS here as well but 85000k's. Also a stuffed rotor which is what you get when you hear that squeal and then say "I'll get that next week" :D
I enjoy trying to ride without brakes...ie using engine braking only. It forces me to ride better as I have to be very present. It's very satisfying when you manage to do it for any length of time.

I wish I could do that here in D Beach. Every driver goes 0-60 in one block. Cuts in front and slams on the brakes. I had a Lexus behind me in a line of traffic. Passed on the right, squeezed in front and stopped immediately for the red light. Wtf was the point. Just that days ahole. Daytona 500 wanabee or he's on a bike, he won't hit me.
Just to add to this thread for future readers. Just changed my front pads today at 17,000 miles. Phew, they needed it.
For Full Blown Goldwings any dealer will recommend 15,000 mile replacement these are a little lighter so, yeah about 17,000
