Just hit 300 miles so time for the initial oil change. Anything else I need to do for the initial service?

Just an FYI - the factory recommend first service is at 4k miles. Changing the oil earlier won't hurt but is not needed (I put 2.5k miles on the bike in the first four days riding it cross country and the oil still looks perfect). I also checked the airbox for blowby and found it completely dry. Great engine!

The first regular service is 4k miles, engine break in is way earlier. It probably would be fine, but I wanna do it by the book.

I bought my bike, drove home (80 Miles), dropped the factory oil, with any shedded metal, changed to Shell Rotella Full Synthetic 5-40W. Bike is happy (15,000 miles later), and so am I. Oh boy, what have I done? Another oil thread? Please do a search on oil preferences! You will find more than you can handle! LOL!

i just did my first oil change at 4K miles per the owners manual. I switched to Honda full synthetic (red bottle) I recommend it. Bike runs and shifts great.

The manual will give you everything you need to check/change at all the service intervals. Stick with the manual and you should be good.
