First, I bought my bike about 3 weeks ago ish. I'm loving it. Already got 330 miles on it. Amazing bike.

Question 1. What the fuel reserve situation like? I'm filling up my bike at 200 miles. I had filled up 4.8 gallons. How do I access the reserve fuel? As far as I know, it has 6.1 gallons of fuel doesn't it? Is the fuel guage just a bit inaccurate?
I noticed it was blinking but it went away after a little. I'm averaging 41mpg, is this about average, or what? Anyone here getting closer to 50?

Question 2.
(I forgot what I was going to ask, RIP, I'll ask this instead)
Where can I find some accessories for the Valk? I need some type of storage solution and I'm most likely going to change the seat. It seems like it is uncomfortable for long distances. I want a seat where the passenger has a backrest. I can tie a backpack to it and carry my stuff, I suppose. That'd be a solution. Also, is there a center Stand that would fit the Valk? Which one?

Hi HGL1800C,

Question 1. The reserve is when the fuel level light blinks. Nothing to switch over. You have @ 1.2 gallons left, I believe, at that point. I am getting about 45mpg as a single rider. Your fuel economy will go up as the bike breaks in.

Question 2. For storage, you can get some soft saddlebags or some hardbags. Some have used the Honda stays and bolted the bags to that. As for the seat. The only one that has a passenger backrest integrated into the seat is Corbin. I like them, but I like Russell Daylong better. Honda does have a backrest for the Valkyrie that attaches to the rear handles. A centre stand off a full wing works perfect. It is what I have on mine. You do need to get the left side heat shield with the indent for the exhaust or cut the shield you have to fir the kickstand. Both can be found on eBay for pretty cheap.

I just got mine about three weeks ago also. 1600 miles. As for fuel, I'm having the same questions.

accessories for this bike are hard to find.

I'm waiting for Viking to restock the P/N 22575 trunk bag in 5 to 10 more days. I have Honda bags already so it should look pretty good and give me the added room I need. I'll be changing my Honda backrest out and use the backrest on the trunk for my wife. Ill have to make a plate maybe but Ill have all winter to do so. Saddlemen, Viking, Kuryakyn all good bag companies.

Good luck
I'm in love with this bike so far.

How much was your 600 mile service? Or your first service?

no 600 mile service required for this bike. They dynoed the bike at the factory and drained the oil before they boxed it up. Ride it for 2500 or so to assure you burn it in adequately before switching to full syn.

My dealer told me 4k for that. about 180 dollars.
User manual calls for a 600 mile / 1000 km maintenance, but has no specific items indicated for service. Regular service interval begins at 4000 miles / 6400 km and repeats at that interval for items as called out in the manual.

The initial check is supposed to be a routine inspection to make sure everything is satisfactory, all bolts are tight, no fluid loss, etc. I used it as the end of the break-in period and paid extra for an oil change to full synthetic.

Enjoy!
