Advice re buying Valk

So seriously thinking of buying a Valk
can owners answer the following.......

Main issue would be how reliable are these motor bikes?
Service costs?
Lastly I like the growl of a vtwin with vance and hines..... How do the Valks compare. can you make the exhausts louder?

Hondas in general and especially the 1500/1800’s are some of the most reliable motorcycles in the industry many thousands of the Goldwing motors have gone way north of the 100,000 mile point this iteration of the Valkyrie is pretty much engine and wheels, not a lot of stuff on it to go wrong

Service costs? Well the bike has a roughly 4000 mile service cycle, from what I can tell the services are fair but by no means cheap in this day and age

Growl? Well, it sort of has a growl it sounds more like a Jap tuner car like my old 3000GT and a spaceship there are virtually NO aftermarket pipes being offered in 2020 (torque masters with the torque loops) are pretty much your only options and that’s if you can find them that will get you a sound but it will be much more of a race car sound

I can't speak for maintenance costs or reliability on this bike (since I haven't received mine yet), other than what I've read online that ALL indicates it is one rock solid reliable machine. A bike with this level of sophistication, though, is not going to be inexpensive to service, and I think one should have full understanding and expectation of that when you buy a bike like this. You can't buy a Rolls Royce and expect to go to Jiffy Lube for a $50 oil change.



I have watched almost every YouTube video there is on this bike, and have seen a couple guys who did some gorgeous custom shorty pipes. Apparently they cut out the catalytic converter and shortened the exhaust by about 2 feet, and it looks and sounds REALLY good. If I had a good fab guy for a friend, I'd definitely look into having this done. I think they look better than stock, and for me, that is rare.

Oil and tires are the main two maintenance items. Tire longevity varies on rider habits and and road surfaces on their routes. Other items such as brakes and air filter have longer intervals. Bike is really cheap to own and maintain.

Best and most reliable engine in the world. Very cheap to maintain, specially if you can do your own oil change, ... Not much electronics so issues are limited compared to Ducatis, BMWs or Triumphs.
As said above, oil change and tire change, that's pretty much it for the first years. Brake pads are easy to change yourself too, I do a lot of highways so not much braking. I have changed my front pad and will change the rear one soon, when I reach 28k miles. I also changed the clutch and brake fluids once.
