F6C vs F6B

Alright so today I wanted to have a little look into how exactly the F6C relates to the rest of Hondas lineup, more importantly how does it slot in between CTX1300 and the Gold Wing F6B.

First things first the F6C Valkyrie is supposed to slot in between the CTX1300 and the GW F6B. The Valk is a light and low crusier style bike similar to CTX, however the Valk makes use of the GW's 1832cc flat six mill. The flat 6 in the Valk cracks out 115 hp at 5,500 revs and 123 ft-lbs of twist at 4,000 RPM.

The Valk also shares its platform with the F6B, however Honda has gone and shaved 100 lbs off the Valk vs the donor F6B, which should bring its curb weight in at 750 lbs.

So essentially the F6C is a naked version of the Bagger F6B, but the differences dont stop at fairings. The F6C Valk gets a new aluminium subframe to crop weight, different steering geometry and the rads have been moved to the sides instead of at the front like F6B. The alteration of the steering geometry is the most significant IMO, it should improve low speed cornering, stability and most importantly, confidence...

From Honda:

Quote:
A new aluminium subframe lowers the F6Cís tail. Easy ground reach Ė seat height is just 734mm Ė and a comfortable, carefully shaped seat thatís just 300mm wide at the critical portion aids rider confidence at standstill.

'The 45mm telescopic forks are matched to a Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) monoshock that can be adjusted manually for spring preload; it works through Pro-Link on the single-sided aluminium swingarm. Spring and damping rates front and rear have been modified to suit the F6Cís weight reduction and urban cruiser intent.

'Compared to its siblings, the F6Cís steering geometry is stretched out: rake is set at 30.5į with 121.5mm trail. Overall dimensions are 2,473mm (L) x 942mm (W) x 1,154mm (H) with wheelbase of 1,707mm.'

Never liked the headlight design of the F6B, F6C looks so much better IMO!

Now it just needs a projector, just can't put up with a halogen headlight

LED vs Projectors....hmm.
I had an LED and Xenon flashlight, the Xenon had a crazy throw, LED wasn't too far. Which would be better on a bike?

on a bike you'd want a wide throw.. I'm not well versed in headlights TBH.

Hey OP,

Great write up I think we have the same views for the f6c. Nice comparison!

One thing that I am looking forward to is how the f6c feels compared to the top heavy f6b.
