2014 Black Paint issues?

I have read elsewhere that the early model F6b's had paint issues. Particularly the black and red. Problems included fading, soft, easy to cloud/scratch and swirl marks. Due to inferior water based paint with no clear coat application. Can this be verified? Has anyone heard of this here? My research shows it's debatable and was never acknowledged by Honda. I was wondering if the 2014 Black Valkyrie has had any of the same paint issue claims? Being both 2014 Honda's? I found a 700 mile Black Valkyrie at a local dealer for $9200 bucks with free two year maintenance and warranty. This bike has ABS and POD lights. I'm thinking it's a great deal, although I am a paint perfectionist. If there's any truth to this rumor I'll continue my search for a spotless 2015 Anniversary red.

I joined here several years ago with the intentions of buying a new Valkyrie after 12 joyful years of Valkyrie 1500 ownership/comradery. Well, I have purchased 3 other bikes since I joined here and none of them have me totally happy. I've decided to go on the hunt for another Valkyrie. Hence my paint question.
Thanks for any information shared.

This is the first I have heard of a potential problem with the black paint. If that ABS model was available when I was looking, I would have been all over it.

If you ride your bike I don't understand how you could keep it pristine.

Thanks,

From what I have read, these paint issues were only on the matte finish paints. I have a 14 black valc and do not have issues with it scratching easy.

Agree. I used to be anal about finish but decided life's too short. The advice that broke the spell for me was from luthier Scott Beckwith (Birdsong Guitars) who made my bass. It's an absolute work of art yet he said "now go use it until it looks like grandpa's hammer". Brilliant. Set me free.

I have a 2013 Black F6B and yes the paint is soft.
When I first got mine it would get a mark, scratch just from looking at it.
I used Glare wax products on my bike it was expensive and took 4 steps but results were outstanding. It last for years.
I also put it on my Mustang which give it a fantastic shine.

Thanks for the replies guys.

JackB, appreciate the info. and the link. it was a good read.
I really want the red 2015, although can't find one with this low miles or this clean. If I go black, I'll certainly try Glare.

Jack B, I never heard of that product before. I just bought a bottle of ceramic stuff to try for the first time. Do you use multiple Glare products when you buff your machine, like the polish AND the micro finish? I'd love to see that on my vehicles. Is it available in stores or just through the site?

Jack, exactly which of those are needed for my bike? Looks like a lot of products to sort through!

This is what I used Winners Circle Pro Kit.
As far as I know you have to order it, but Honda Glare polish is made by Glare which you can buy at your Honda dealer.
If you call Glare you will talk to the guy in the video (at least I do every time I call)
But I believe that the 4 step polish seals the paint somehow.
Great stuff.
