DP, try putting Lemon Pledge furniture oil on your bike. wipe it over all the surfaces after a good cleaning. It will make the surface slippery to all those airborne missiles and anti aircraft flak.. most will just blow and go. the few direct hits will just puddle up and wipe off. There are sure to be other home spun remedies for excess buggage..
just another story in the annals of ponchos travels.
Since the dawn of time, there has been mass migration from their breeding trees high atop mountain in southern Mexico to all parts of the rockies even to the tundra in canukistan, previously known as Canada every spring and fall. These hordes fly by the billions across the Sonoran desert and all thru the Midwest as they make there trek to all the flowers seasonal burst of life in north America. However these winged creatures insist on flying at about 48" above the deck, which happens to be exactly the altitude that my brother and I fly our bikes across the desert. Yes I am referring to the seasonal migration of the monarch butterflies.
One particular trip on our way back to the land of enchantment, aka texas, we did come upon and passed thru a gauntlet a field of fire of these poof balls. Traveling at hiway speed, it appears as though they are being fired at you by nazi machine guns in bunkers on the side of the highway. You do your best to dodge and weave as you can plainly see them as if they were tracer rounds. Upon impact on your windscreen they explode with dramatic effect in a burst of yellow dust. they have much the same effect on your flying fortress and your bomber jacket. A direct hit to the head or sunglasses will leave you in a daze of yellow dust. With a mission to complete you do your best to avoid as many as possible but there is no escape from some collateral damage. eventually we cleared the field of battle and limped our way home where we could assess the battle damage and restore our sleds to fly and fight again for Truth , Justice and the American way.. ponch out
